I’m pleased to be joining Project Lebanon & Interiors Lebanon 2026, taking place from 29 September to 2 October at Seaside Arena, Beirut.
On Day 1, I’ll be joining the panel discussion “Powering Recovery: Decentralized Solar Microgrids, Grid Modernization and Critical Energy Infrastructure.”
Lebanon has spent years learning to live around its grid: generators, private networks, rooftop solar improvised at scale. That resilience is real, but it is not a system. And rebuilding the same grid with newer materials will not change what has been broken all along. The country’s network is largely blind. Faults are found by outage, not by data. Losses are absorbed, not measured. Solar is connected faster than anyone can see what it is doing to the low-voltage network.
This is where the conversation has to shift. Lebanon does not need a grid that is repaired. It needs a grid that can see itself, one that locates a fault before crews go searching, shows where the losses actually sit, and knows what it can absorb before the next hundred rooftops come online. Recovery is the rare moment when that can be built in from the start, rather than retrofitted a decade too late.
That is what I will be bringing to this panel.
Join us at Project Lebanon & Interiors Lebanon 2026. Register for free and be part of the conversation powering Lebanon’s recovery. See you there, virtually!

Bassam Nakfour is the Managing Partner of Mega Prefab, a Lebanese leader in precast concrete and prefabricated construction based in Beirut, with operations extending across all of Lebanon. A second-generation engineer, Bassam holds a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the American University of Beirut and took the helm of the family business after more than a decade at the company, building on the foundation laid by his father, Professor Marwan Nakfour, who founded Mega Prefab in 1995 and introduced hollow core slab technology to Lebanon.
Since 2009, under Bassam's leadership, Mega Prefab has expanded its capabilities to include post-tension systems and a dedicated prefab house division, while modernizing the company's operations through digitization. His work spans the full lifecycle of precast construction, from structural design and factory manufacturing to on-site assembly, covering hollow core slabs, precast structural buildings, post-tension systems, and precision-engineered concrete homes.
Today, Bassam oversees Mega Prefab's strategic direction, operations, and client relationships, driving the company's growth across the region while staying rooted in the factory-first, precast manufacturing model that has defined the brand for three decades.
Michael is the founder of KIUBZ Prefabs, a design and construction company specializing in high-quality, customizable prefabricated spaces.
His journey began over a decade ago as an engineer in New York. His time there sparked his interest in alternative ways of building and living. Seeing the potential of modular construction and the possibility of designing and building spaces more efficiently, he returned to Lebanon with the ambition of introducing a prefabricated building solution that was still largely absent from the local market.
Over the years, Michael has developed his approach around the idea that prefabrication does not have to mean standardization. He believes that every project should respond to its client, its function, and its environment, while bringing together architecture, engineering, and craftsmanship.
This path has led him to work across a wide range of projects, from modular homes, tiny houses, and cabins to hospitality and commercial spaces, always with a focus on customization, and quality.
Sustainability has also remained an important ingredient of his work. Through the use of responsible material and energy-efficient systems, reduced construction waste, and the possibility of repurposing or relocating structures, Michael continues to look for solutions to make construction more adaptable, and mindful for the Lebanese, more recently the MENA, and European markets.
